  • Late last night, John caught me scrolling through old photos of Frankie on my phone. Life is beautiful now with our family of four and dad working from home. But it’s also a lot more complicated than the days of me and Frankie hanging together, just the two of us. My little boy has changed dramatically this year, from cute toddler to full-on Little Boy. Even though I’m with him all the time now, I feel like I somehow missed the transition.

John came up with a plan: we would wake Frankie up, bring him to our bed, and have toast and hot chocolate together. At 11 pm. Yes, we know we’re bad parents. 😉

Have you ever tried to wake a 3 yr old?! They don’t like to go to bed, but once asleep, remain in a spell-like trance cast by a determined foe who refuses to lift the curse. Let’s just say, Frankie was deeply confused by his weird parents and unimpressed with our attempt to make special memories.

Poor boy. This will probably not be the last time he suffers because I am feeling nostalgic. Hopefully he will get used to it eventually.

  • My snow baby. She likes the cold a lot more than mommy does. 😍

  • Some families take nice Christmas photos. We roll out of bed and grab a family selfie before opening presents. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Merry Christmas to you all! 😘

  • CUTENESS OVERLOAD!!

For me, Christmas of 2020 will always be the year Frankie woke up and sleepily asked, “What is Santa Clause?” in the cutest Norwegian-child accent. 🥰😭

  • This evening John and I were watching a movie and Frankie kept mysteriously disappearing into the kitchen. When the movie finished, we walked in just in time to catch him pouring a small bit of cream into this glass.

It’s coffee. More accurately, iced coffee. He made it himself. From scratch. Put grounds in our French press, poured water from the electric kettle I keep on the counter, plunged the grounds after they steeped...the whole nine yards. Only a few grounds scattered across my table were proof of his kitchen escapades. It actually tasted pretty good. A little weak, but not bad — similar to what we jokingly call “church coffee.”

He’s only 3 years old, people! Three! Even though it was caffeinated, I had to let him have a sip and enjoy the fruits of his labor. Clearly we make too much coffee at our house. 🤷🏼‍♀️😝🤦‍♀️
